Man held with gold worth Tk 2cr at Dhaka airport

Customs officials detained a man with 2.9kg of gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka last night.

Detainee Mohammad Ripon arrived in the country on a flight of Saudia that landed at the airport around 11:15pm.

The officials intercepted him and found 25 gold bars hidden inside the sleeves of his jacket, said Sanuwarul Kabir, deputy commissioner of Customs.

The gold is worth Tk 2 crore, he said, adding legal action against him is underway.
