Training on Common Data Collection Template for Tea Gardens

A day long training on common data collection template for Tea Gardens in Sylhet Divisionunder UN joint SDG programmewas held at Rest Inn Hotel in Moulvibazar on 01 September 2021 at 10:00 am. Dr. Chowdhury Jalal Uddin Murshed, Civil Surgeon,Moulvibazar, chaired the inaugural session. The programme was organized by the CIPRB with the technical support of UNFPA Bangladesh. The CIPRB, implementing partner of UNFPA, provided the implementation support of the programme.  Total 45participants including garden midwives, compounders, clerks and Managers of 17 selected teagardens of Moulvibazar were trained on common data collection template. 

At first Mr. Md. Mahbub-E- Alam- Chief a.i PPR, UNFPA delivered the welcome Remarks and shared the objective. The oobjectives of the workshop were learning about how to collect/ record tea garden data following the common template, information on how to data to be storage, analyzed and reported as well and developing an action plan framework for rolling out the harmonized template. Mr. Mahbub also mentioned about the process of developing the common data collection template. 
The overall progress on enhancing data strengthening of tea garden workers was presented by Md. Mashiur Rahman-Information Management Officer of UNFPA. He also mentioned about two separate workshops about this issue were held earlier in Moulvibazar and Sylhet Districts led by respective Civil surgeon offices in collaboration with CIPRB.
The common data collection template was introduced by Dr.Animesh Biswas, Technical Officer of UNFPA. He shared and discussed four common data collection templates including the Garden Census, Pregnancy and Birth Register, Maternal Benefit Register and Sick Allowance Register. After presenting the templates he also received the input from participants of teagardens. 
 Then group discussion session on the data collection and reporting template and developing an action plan framework was held with the effective participation of all trainees. After group work they presented the action plan for their respective teagardens. The Field officer of UNFPA in Sylhet, the Team Leader, Project Coordinator, District Referral Coordinators, and Field Coordinators of CIPRB were participated in the programme. The participants from teagardens expressed their satisfaction on receiving the training and became confident in reporting using this template from their respective teagardens. This training is effective to address the relevant indicators of SDG. 


Data strengthening is one of the key component of Joint SDG teagarden programme which is ongoing in Sylhet division to ensure social protection of teagarden workers and their families. Today, UNFPA supported to organize a district level training with the teagarden staff on harmonize data collection template for teagarden at Sylhet. 24 participants from seven teagardens from Sylhet and Habiganjdistricts were participated. The training was chaired by the Civil surgeon, Sylhet. From UNFPA site, Mahboob E Alam, Dr Animesh, MdMashiur and Dr Siddique were participated. Following the workshop, teagarden staff are oriented on harmonize data template and able to start documenting harmonize data under the joint SDG programme initiative.
