Visiting Bangladesh cricket team’s focus has now shifted to white-ball cricket as the side have been preparing for the three-match one-day international series against hosts Zimbabwe.

Bangladesh had a good start to the month-long tour winning the lone Test match by 220 runs at Harare Sports Club and now the ambition is to maintain the winning run in their favorite format.

The three games are part of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League and Bangladesh, believing they are a better team both in caliber and ranking, hence would like to grab the 30 points.

Bangladesh with five wins in nine games are at No 2 in the Super League table currently.

The team in Harare were joined by the members of the ODI squad who left Dhaka last Thursday and had their first practice session at HSC yesterday.

Bangladesh will play a 50-over warm-up game against a Zimbabwe Select XI at Takashinga Sports Club in Harare today.

As far as injury is concerned the side are still waiting on ODI captain Tamim Iqbal gaining fitness for the series, while Mushfiqur Rahim has recovered well from the injury he picked up on his fingers during Bangladesh’s first innings in the Test.

Tamim has been carrying a knee injury that he incurred during the tour of Sri Lanka in April-May.

The opening batsman despite the injury played against Sri Lanka in the three-match ODI series at home, and then took part in the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League T20.

He however, had to leave the tournament midway as the injury worsened.

Australian surgeon David Young has suggested Tamim a long rest.

The Bangladesh ODI skipper did not play the Zimbabwe Test but is aiming to lead the team in the ODI series.

The Bangladesh team management will wait till the last minute to decide on Tamim’s fate for the series.

On the other hand, Mushfiq has recovered well from the hit that he received on his finger while batting in the first innings of the Test.

The right-handed batsman did not field or bat in the second innings and is learnt to have gained enough recovery to play the ODIs.

Mushfiq had earlier travelled to Zimbabwe with a hairline fracture on his left index finger and was hurt in the right hand during the Test.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh all-rounder Mosaddek Hossain expressed confidence ahead of the ODIs.

The middle-order batsman cum off-spinner, selected only for white-ball cricket, believes the combination of the experienced and comparatively younger player edges Bangladesh ahead against most of the teams in the 50-over format of the game.
“We are much better as a one-day team. The four experienced players [Tamim, Shakib, Mushfiq and Mahmudullah] make a very good combination with the others who are part of the team. This is rare to many teams which for sure gives us the edge and we are looking forward to the series against Zimbabwe,” said Mosaddek to the media through a video message yesterday.

Bangladesh will face Zimbabwe in the first ODI at HSC Friday.

The second and third game of the series will be played Sunday and Tuesday respectively.
All the matches will be played at HSC behind closed doors.
