Import activities of perishable goods through Benapole Land Port resumed on Thursday night after three months.
“Altogether 40 goods laden trucks entered through the port on Thursday night from India,” said Nasidul Haque, revenue officer, Benapole Customs Cargo Department.
Most of the trucks filled with onion, pomegranate, betel leaves and fish, were released on Friday morning, he added.
Mofizur Rahman, president, Benapole C&F Association, said all got a relief as import activities start through the port.
Mamun Kabir Tarafder, director Benapole Port, said export and import activities through Benapole Port have been getting normal gradually, reports UNB.
Everyone at the port was asked to release goods faster, he added.
Earlier on March 22, export-import through Benapole Land Port was halted thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.
Later on June 7, import activities resumed through the largest land port.
