Home Minister, IGP receive Covid vaccine

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir today received coronavirus vaccine at Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital in the capital.

 "Many have criticised the vaccine but Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has brought the vaccine against the voices of such critics," said the home minister, reports Somoy News.

He added that everyone, including the general people of the country, is getting the vaccine.

The home minister also called upon all to take the vaccine to liberate the country from coronavirus.

Later, Senior Secretary for Public Security Mustafa Kamal Uddin also received the vaccine. In addition, senior police officials also received the jab.

The hospital has vaccinated 3,000 people so far, including police and civilians, through 18 booths every day.

The country has vaccinated 906,033 people since the campaign began on February 7. The vaccination is being held at 1,015 hospitals across the country, including 50 in the capital.

Bangladesh plans to inoculate 35 lakh people in the first month of vaccination. Health directorate said the vaccine turnout is growing everyday as at least 17.46 lakh people registered until 6pm Sunday.
