Following the unabated price hike of vegetables, rice, and edible oil, this week prices of fish and chicken have also gone high compared to last week.

Traders said, as supply of fish decreases in winter and price of hilsa fish increases, prices of other fishes also go up. On the other hand, broiler chicken price rises by Tk 10 per kilogram (kg).

However, consumers are unwilling to agree with sellers’ arguments. They said, until the government identifies the unholy nexus behind the price spiral, market situation will continue to remain unstable.

Visiting different kitchen markets in the capital on Friday, such price update trend information was collected from wholesalers and retailers.

It was learned that, even winter vegetables have started arriving in good quantities, price is still higher like past week. Imported large onion is being selling at Tk 40 to Tk 50 per kg.
