BGB seizes 2,26,000 pieces of yaba

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 2,26,000 pieces of yaba worth Tk 6,78,00,000 by chasing smugglers in the Naf river Saturday night.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Teknaf Battalion (BGB-2) took strategic position to catch a large consignment of drug from Myanmar via Naf River. Teknaf 2 BGB Battalion Commander Lt Colonel Md Faisal Hasan Khan led the operation.

Sensing presence of force 200 meters off the BSP, drug smuggler opened fire which was retaliated by the BGB. At one stage, the smugglers jumped into the river to avoid arrest.

BGB recovered three plastic sacks full of yaba tablets, said a press release of Border Guard Bangladesh.

Although operation in and around the area continued till 9:45pm, no smuggler was arrested.

In absence of any locals, the forcers were unable to know the identity of the offenders.

Intelligence activities are underway to detect the smugglers who were involved in such a big consignment of the deadly drug.
