Hefajat-e-Islam Bangladesh ameer Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi has been brought in Dhaka by an air ambulance.

Physicians in Chattogram advised his relatives early Friday afternoon to take Hefat ameer to Dhaka after deterioration of his physical condition at a hospital in the port city. He was then brought in Dhaka frim Chattogram in the afternoon. Allama Shafi will be given treatment at Asgar Ali Hospital in the capital.

Allama Shafi fell sick early Thursday afternoon at Hathazari Madrasa amid students' movement. He was taken to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital from Hathazari Madrasa by an ambulance at night. A medical was formed comprising renowned physicians of the hospital in the morning.

As his condition worsened, physicians advised his relatives to take him to Dhaka.

The 105-year-old Allama Shafi, a top Qaumi alem, has been suffering from various old-age complications including diabetes and high blood pressure. He was also admitted to hospitals several times earlier. He has developed a number of complications in his body over the last several months.
